 Today is the 180th birthday of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, the writer, mathematician, logician, and author of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass".  Lewis Carroll was an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and photographer. Besides his most famous writings about the little girl named Alice, the poems "The Hunting of the Snark" and "Jabberwocky", are examples of the genre of literary nonsense. He is noted for his facility at word play, logic, and fantasy:
"I mean, what Is an un-birthday present?"
"A present given when it isn’t your birthday, of course."

This question is posed in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". The guests attempt to puzzle the riddle out, but several pages later, the Hatter admits "I haven't the slightest idea." So the entire point of the riddle is that it has no answer, though many people have come up with creative interpretations of this riddle.
