Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and usually must appear in a standard dictionary. But there are some variations of this game.
For example, Star Trek Special Edition of Scrabble has been modified from its original form with many Star Trek features. The rules have been altered to allow for Star Trek play. For example, proper names of Star Trek characters, planets, aliens, and technology are allowed, with special words getting bonus points. The rule book includes a guide to these words. Spelling "Kang" earns 5 points extra, while superior words like "Khan" earn 20 points. In the TV series The Big Bang Theory four characters play Scrabble in Klingon.
Versions of Scrabble have been released in several other languages. For languages with digraphs counted as single letters, such as Welsh and Hungarian, the game features separate tiles for those digraphs.
