The first phones were installed at the airport, Sea port and railway station. In order to use the
interpreter one should contact the call center. The
phone center finished the testing stage and has been working on a permanent basis since April 1. It is expected that the "bilingual" phones will be useful for communication with the emergency services – police and doctors – in case of misunderstanding in a
dialogue with foreigners.
Except interpreting, the
call center will offer reference information in two languages – English and Russian. However, during the Olympic and Paralympic winter games the service will be offered in seven languages: Russian, English, German, French, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
In the context of preparation of Sochi for the Olympic Games installation of public phones began, which are equipped with two receivers to be used by foreigners and residents for breaking the language barrier.
