The story of one of the most well-known Pushkin’s characters has been narrated by the actor and writer Stephen Fry. At the moment Eugene Onegin has more than forty English translations, the earliest of them, by Henry Spolding, dating back to the 1881. The latest one was made by Stanley Mitchell in 2008.
For the audio book, Sthephen Fry has read James Falen’s translation, 1990. Literary critics believe that this version suits the best the fictional world created by Alexander Pushkin in his novel in verse.
It should also be mentioned that this audio book isn’t Stephen Fry’s first experience. Earlier he read Harry Potter, Alan Alexander Milne, and others.
