Often, many of us visit different countries all over the world. Countries, where people often speak languages we don’t know. And often, we don’t even want to know or learn them. It’s this fact that can be considered the starting point of this phrasebook’s creation. The key idea of this project is to offer a short list of words and phrases that are the most essential for everyday communication. No doubt that with a list which is too short one won’t be able to communicate at all, while in a long list it would be hard to find a particular phrase. It’s hard to decide which of the two variants is better. That’s why we have made it our objective that you won’t spend more than three seconds to find the phrase you need. All of our translation agency team has contributed to this list. It wasn’t finding a phrase that has proved to be the hardest but deciding if it was essential enough to enter the One Page Phrasebook. That’s the name we have chosen for the project as, to comply with the 3 seconds rule, the phrasebook had to fit into one page.
This project is also of linguistic interest. The phrasebook features a possibility to view the translation of a phrase into all the languages.
Another advantage of our One Page Phrasebook is a great number of bilingual combinations (320 combinations of languages are available at the moment), with some of them being pretty exotic (Kazakh-Norwegian, for instance, or Danish-Bulgarian). We hope that it will serve for tourists’ special benefit, as well as facilitate intercultural communication.
